Employment & Education Coordinator 

FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT, UNIONIZED
Responsible to: Program Supervisor


GENERAL POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Employment and Education Coordinator will provide one on one education and employment support to spouses and family members of currently serving Canadian Armed Forces members, medically released members, Veterans and their families who are seeking employment and education opportunities.

HOURS OF WORK 

Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week and the hours of work are structured based on the needs of the Trenton MFRC and may include evening and weekend work as required.

Start Date: To be discussed. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: 

The Employment and Education Coordinator will have:

  • a post-secondary degree/diploma from a recognized University or Community College in employment/career counselling, business administration, or relevant training and experience in providing employment support and services to clients;
  • Three (3) years experience as an Employment Counsellor
  • Two (2) years experience in the facilitation of employment and education programs; training in the principles of adult education
  • Proficiency in various computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and client management databases
  • Understanding of the unique military lifestyle issues faced by the family members of Canadian Armed Forces Members
  • Proven abilities in working with individuals and groups to facilitate the development of programs;
  • A high degree of interpersonal and communication skills;
  • An approved vulnerable sector screen and police records check;
  • Oral and written fluency in English;
  • Oral and written fluency in French would be considered an asset.

Youth Prevention, Support and Intervention Coordinator

Responsible to: Program Supervisor

General Position Overview

The Youth Prevention, Support and Intervention Coordinator will require a thorough understanding of the unique and demanding lifestyle experienced by the military family and the needs of youth and families experiencing mental health concerns. This position will provide counselling for youth and their families that promotes healthy development, and supports positive parent and child interaction. Responsibilities will also include providing prevention and support programming that fosters healthy family relationships.


Hours of Work

Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week and the hours of work are structured based on the needs of the Trenton MFRC and may include evening and weekend work as required.

Qualifications and Competencies

The Youth Prevention, Support and Intervention Coordinator will have:
• A post-secondary degree in Social Work from a recognized University or equivalent;
• A current membership in a recognized professional association in the Province of Ontario;
• Minimum of 3 years experience in providing counselling to youth and families;
• Minimum of 3 years experience in prevention and intervention service delivery;
• Proven abilities in working with individuals and groups to facilitate the development of programs;
• A high degree of interpersonal and communication skills;
• An approved vulnerable sector police records check;
• Oral and written fluency in English;
• Oral and written fluency in French would be considered an asset.

Permanent Part -Time Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)  

TRENTON MFRC CHILD CARE PROGRAM (BATAWA SITE)


RESPONSIBLE TO: Childcare Supervisor  

General Position Overview 

To have or gain a thorough understanding of the unique and demanding lifestyle experienced by the military family and how these challenges  can affect child development and parenting. This position requires someone who is enthusiastic, creative, motivated and dedicated with the  ability to perform all licensed childcare activities in accordance with the CCEYA while promoting healthy child development, supporting  positive child/adult interactions. 

Hours of Work 

Between operating hours of 6am and 630pm, Monday to Friday with an increase of hours during PA days/Spring Break/Summer. Hours of  work are based on the needs of our program. Hours vary based on the needs of each Site. Ability to pick up additional hours at other Site locations (Trenton, Batawa, St. Mary’s, and Belleville)

Qualifications & Competencies:  

Childcare staff will have: 

  • Proven ability to work with children as individuals and in groups, 
  • Current membership with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators,
  • Current Criminal Reference Check, valid First Aid/CPR certificate, up-to-date Immunization, 
  • Proven ability to assess and document observations on children’s development or circumstance, 
  • A high degree of interpersonal and communication skills, 
  • A proven capacity to actively participate within a collaborative team environment, 
  • Written and oral fluency in English, French as an asset 
  • Proficiency in various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, 
  • Knowledge of the CCEYA, 
  • To establish and maintain a good working relationship with the colleagues and community partners 
  • To maintain and uphold all Licensing requirements as set out in the Child Care Early Years Act  
  • Food Handlers Certification is an asset
